About this tool
The Lighten Image tool applies a brightness filter to any image with adjustable intensity. A slider lets you control how much lighter the image becomes, with a live preview that updates in real time. The modified image can be downloaded as a PNG.
Lightening images is useful in many contexts: making a dark background image suitable for overlaying light-colored text, brightening underexposed photos, creating faded or washed-out aesthetic effects, or preparing images for use in design mockups where a full-brightness photo would be too visually dominant.
The tool works by blending the original image with a white overlay at the specified opacity using the HTML5 Canvas API. All processing is done locally in your browser — your images are never uploaded anywhere. The output is a PNG regardless of the original format to preserve maximum quality.
